Born a son of a proud US Marine in the picturesque landscapes of Hawaii and raised amidst the serene charm of Rowan County, Gabe Barnhardt discovered his passion for construction at a tender age. Spending summers in his grandfather's construction business from the age of 12, he imbibed the wisdom of traditional craftsmanship, learning the intricacies of every construction stage.

After completing high school, Gabe pursued his dreams at UNCC, where he delved into the realm of Civil Engineering, specializing in Structural Engineering and graduating in 2001. However, his stint as an intern in a structural engineering firm during his final year left him yearning for a more dynamic role outside the confines of a desk.

Determined to broaden his horizons, Gabe ventured into commercial construction as an assistant project manager, eager to explore new avenues beyond residential projects. Three years into the industry, fueled by a thirst for entrepreneurship, he embarked on a journey to obtain his contractor's license, paving the way for his own business endeavors.

In late 2004, Gabe took the leap of faith and commenced building homes for himself, navigating through the challenges of a sluggish construction market. Collaborating with a colleague on a substantial remodel project in the Lake Norman area proved to be a turning point, leading to the formation of SOUTHERN ALLIANCE, LLC.

For the next eight years, Gabe and his business partner fostered a successful partnership, culminating in a thriving family-owned business. However, tragedy struck in November 2018 with the sudden demise of his partner, compelling Gabe to navigate through yet another period of restructuring.

Today, Gabe stands as a testament to resilience and perseverance, steering the helm of SOUTHERN ALLIANCE II, LLC, alongside his cherished family. With a focus on custom new constructions, remodels, and speculative projects, he upholds a commitment to integrity and excellence, delivering high-value, quality products while maintaining a reputation for being approachable and accommodating.

Amidst the challenges and triumphs, Gabe finds solace and fulfillment in his roles as a devoted husband and father to three remarkable children, each pursuing their dreams in high school and college. As he continues to build not just structures but legacies, Gabe remains steadfast in his pursuit of excellence, guided by a vision of creating spaces that inspire and endure.
